In 1955, NATO and the Allied Forces conducted secret, occult experiments in a bid to win the Arms Race. They succeeded, but what they unleashed almost tore our world apart. Now a group of young urban explorers and a private military unit could become the final pieces in a 60-year plan to reopen a door that should have stayed closed.

THE FACILITY, originally entitled THE RIZEN: POSSESSION, is the sequel to Fifties-based sci-fi horror THE RIZEN, a film that meshed elements of OUTPOST with creature design that nodded to those freakishly bandaged monstrosities in the SILENT HILL films/games. I had high hopes for the original flick but unfortunately it ended up as an interesting concept that got lost in a muddled delivery.

With the original film’s writer/director Matt Mitchell back again calling the shots I anticipated much of the same muddle as before, however THE FACILITY is a more straightforward offering that adds a dash of ALIENS into the mix. It’s a fast, fun, silly mish-mash of bits-and-bobs seen in other movies, and in being a hybrid of elements from other flicks there’s little new to here to get excited about.

Keep your eyes peeled for brief appearances from British comedy favourites Sally Phillips, as the ‘Suited Woman’ and Adrian Edmondson as ‘The Interviewer’ along with Julian Rhind-Tutt (Green Wing).
