Grindhouse Trailer Classics 4 Review
This reviewer has always had a weakness for trailer collections. He was an avid fan of buying up any film magazine that offered up a free DVD crammed with teasers for up-and-coming celluloid treasures. With the advent of the internet and, in particular, You Tube the fun was taken out of such discs and to be fair less fun when not presented to you in a package that was for keeps or offered up titles you may not have considered a look at.
Grindhouse Trailer Classics 4 is, in this sense, the ultimate guilty pleasure! It’s a collection of trailers that take you back to a time when shocking imagery in film teasers was the norm and those advertised generally overlooked with the passing of time. The collection also makes for a welcome alternative to just sticking a flick on for you or a buddy, and offers up more variety within its near-two-hour running time too.
As the promotional blurb promises there’s ‘Kung-Fu kicks, Satanism, psychos, groovy chicks, cavorting college co-eds, super dudes, bikers from hell, disasters, euro thrillers, swinging couples, killer cats and a glimpse into the end of the world’ – what more could you wish for?
From Little Cigars, and its gang of midget bank robbers, to the dubiously named Willy Dynamite to the actually rather interesting looking Strange Shadows in an Empty Room it’s a titillating mixture. And speaking of tits, there’s plenty of those to ogle too.
In short Grindhouse Trailer Classics 4 is a must-own for genre fans and worth dipping into even if you’re not. The quality is generally excellent and the mix of flicks featured means that the content does not become top-heavy or repetitive. It’s a blast. Do yourself a favour and check it out.
