A Halloween Feast (2024) Review
As Angela Long, a former dancer, apparently descends into madness, her family tries to cope the best they can. After an infamous dinner, their lives collectively spiral to new levels of chaos, including, but not limited to, a sadomasochistic power dynamic, a bloody endeavour where a dinosaur may or may not be present. All of the skeletons will come out at a Halloween night feast.
When researching the film for reviewing purposes I noticed that several of the reviews submitted by IMDB users were strongly in favour of A HALLOWEEN FEAST which has done little to boost up its current average score of 3.8/10. Within the user reviews there is one that is damning of anyone that dares to say that this film is rubbish. The same review then goes on to judge those that have poorly rated the film as having no appreciation of lower budget fare. I’d have to disagree with that.
Firstly, whoever posted that ‘review’ would have no idea if those that have left bad reviews did so because they have little regard for anything that does not come with a blockbuster budget. Personally, I love lower-budget flicks, they afford us the opportunity to potentially glimpse a talent that will go on to shine more with their subsequent output or to also champion a flick that deserves to break-out and be seen by all. These are a couple of the reasons why I got in to reviewing films to begin with.
So, when I read that ‘review’, which is not really a review but a slight cast towards others for daring to leave an honest critique that rubbishes A HALLOWEEN FEAST then I can only reason that someone has taken the low-scoring reviews personally. Regardless of budget if I watch a film and that film does not hit the marks they set out for themselves, and instead deliver a film as dull and lifeless as this then people are allowed to point that out. A HALLOWEEN FEAST is not very good at all. The cast look to be having a lot of fun in front of the camera, it’s just a shame that this fun does not transfer over to the viewer.
