‘The Well’ starring Lauren LaVera (Terrifier 2&3) (2023) Review

Iperuranio Film is excited to announce that Screamfest LA will host the October 12th North American Premiere of THE WELL, director Federico Zampaglione’s latest film, a graphic supernatural horror. THE WELL will make its World Premiere at the Sitges Film Festival before heading to Los Angeles.

When novice art restorer Lisa Gray (TERRIFIER 2) goes to a small Italian village to bring a medieval painting back to its former glory after fire damage, little does she know she is placing her life in danger from an evil curse and a monster born of myth and brutal pain.

THE WELL is a supernatural horror co-written and directed by Federico Zampaglione (SHADOW, TULPA: DEMON OF DESIRE, MORRISON). It’s refreshingly high on the gore count, bragging an impressive catalogue of inventive kills that should make this a must-see for to the gore hounds amongst you.

What THE WELL doesn’t have unfortunately is much in the way of surprises. The story pans out exactly as you would expect. That’s not to say it isn’t any good, it’s still very watchable but lacks that extra something to elevate it to must-see status. There are elements of SUSPIRIA in the plot mix and as well as final denouement that reminds of the climax to Sam Raimi’s original THE EVIL DEAD.

If there is a quibble it’s that not one victim of the gorgeous and shirtless mute (Lorenzo Renzi) thinks to stick their fingers into his eyes, instead feebly trying to strangle him instead. I suppose if they did gouge his eyes out with their fingers nothing would move forward plot wise.
