Skinwalker (2021) Review
After looting a Native American burial site, a hunter unleashes the legendary Skinwalker, a shape shifting demon, onto an unsuspecting world. Once thought to be only a legend, this ancient evil returns from the grave to wreak a terrible vengeance on all who are unfortunate enough to cross its path.
Written and directed by Robert Conway. Googling SKINWALKER for background information is no easy task as it’s an oft-used movie title, albeit apt for a flick about a shape-shifter, and consequently I drew a blank.
What I can tell you is that the film manages to nail the look of the Old West and the cast are above par too, however where the film falters is in the story’s telling. Firstly it’s offering nothing new to the shape-shifter genre aside from the period setting and secondly it runs out of steam far too soon. I was never really grabbed by it which is a shame as there’s obviously been a lot of effort from everyone involved to make this the best movie that they can.
