Set on the Coxe Family Farm in rural Willis County, Farmer Sam (Bill Moseley) exacts his bloody revenge on unscrupulous local town-folk, including Sheriff Jubel (Kane Hodder), who menace him and attempt to steal the farm that has been in his family for two hundred years.

Directed by Dan Lantz, and written by Kristina Chadwick and Robert Lange, HAYRIDE TO HELL offers nothing new. The idea of folks being invited to or visiting a spooky public attraction of their own accord – in this case a Haunted Hayride – only to meet a sticky end has been done many times but here the concept feels fresh and more importantly, it’s fun too.

By having the audience routing for the killer rather than his victims harks back to populist Eighties slashers that saw the likes of Jason and Freddie dispatch idiots to cheers from the viewing audience. And you’ll be cheering along here too as the potential victim line-up includes personality types that we all know and loathe – there’s the bitch of a mayor and her assistants pressuring Farmer Sam to sell the family land, there’s also a few youngsters who are responsible for both killing his dog and vandalising the family graveyard, and then finally there’s the local sheriff and his dimwit racist deputy too.

Sure, it’s not top drawer, it’s made on a budget, but a game cast headed up by genre favourites Kane Hodder and Bill Moseley, both of whom are on top form, ensure that HAYRIDE TO HELL makes for a fun ride. I approached my viewing with little in the way of high hopes, so I was more than pleasantly surprised when it had me chuckling and cheering when the asshole line-up of victims each met a bloody end.

Breaking Glass Pictures is proud to announce the upcoming digital release of HAYRIDE TO HELL starring KANE HODDER and BILL MOSELEY on 24th September.
