Exorcist Vengeance (2022) Review

A possession spooker with state-of-the-art special effects, the film tells of a tough priest (Robert Bronzi), someone the Vatican calls to do their dirty work. When a prominent family is terrorized by a demonic force, the priest is called upon by Bishop Canelo to root out the evil, but soon realizes the solution to this mystery is tied to his own past. He must find the killer and stop the Devil’s hold on the family before it’s too late.

Directed by Scott Jeffrey and Rebecca J Matthews EXORCIST VENGEANCE is the latest in a long line of possession flicks that offers very little new to a genre where the granddaddy of them all – 1973’s THE EXORCIST – was so good and so powerful that anything else of the same ilk was always going to suffer by comparison – and here’s yet another that falls spectacularly short of that classic film’s standard.

What we have is a flaccid offering that isn’t quite sure of what it wants to be – there’s elements of DEATH WISH, THE EXORCIST and KNIVES OUT. Instead of matching those aforementioned flicks it falls embarrassingly short and not even the stunt casting of a Charles Bronson lookalike in the lead role can stop EXORCIST VENGEANCE from being both tonally dull and a bit of a mess.
