ARROW presents astounding Altman and more this April!

IN APRIL, ARROW PRESENTS OFFBEAT ALTMAN, BASKET CASE IN 4K, MORE PODCAST RELEASES, BOROWCZYK EROTICA, DON COSCARELLI SELECTS & MORE

Not to be missed in April on the world beating cult streaming service ARROW – an underrated psychosexual chiller from Robert Altman, cult classic horror Basket Case creaking open in 4K, lively episodes of the ARROW Video Podcast with Sam and Dan, and short films that will boggle your mind. Plus, the director of the Phantasm films chooses his favourite ARROW titles and steel yourself for the sensuous brilliance of Behind Convent Walls.

In April, ARROW presents Robert Altman’s That Cold Day in the Park, a suspenseful tale of sexual repression starring Sandy Dennis (Academy Award® winner for Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?) as a woman who becomes obsessed with an enigmatic 19 year-old boy she sees sitting on a park bench. Vividly photographed by László Kovács (Easy Rider), and accompanied by a haunting score from Johnny Mandel, this is arguably the first true ‘Altman film’ – a stylish harbinger of the themes that would resonate through many of the director’s later masterpieces such as Images and 3 Women.

Also in April, Frank Henenlotter’s beloved slice of gruesome sleaze, Basket Case – where New York’s 1980s-era Times Square is brought to life in all its seedy glory in 4K via ARROW. Don’t miss this deliriously enjoyable low-budget classic, featuring the magnificent Belial, one of the most loveable and lethal creatures in horror history.

Venture into forbidden carnality in Behind Convent Walls, the lushly filmed exploration of the relationship between flesh and spirit from Polish provocateur Walerian Borowczyk (The Beast, Immoral Tales). Featuring striking cinematography by Luciano Tovoli (Suspiria), Behind Convent Walls is erotic, colourful and highly charged.

In April you can also listen to six episodes of the Arrow Video Podcast with Sam and Dan on ARROW, where they’ll discuss the delights of David Lynch’s Dune, the mad monster mayhem of Gamera: Guardian of the Universe, horror favourites Phantasm, Hellraiser, and Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, and the off-the-scale martial arts horror of The Boxer’s Omen.

Seasons in April include:

Don Coscarelli Selects, with films chosen from by the independent filmmaker best known for the Phantasm series, and Bubba Ho-Tep, starring horror icon Bruce Campbell, as well as sword and sorcery adventure The Beastmaster. His picks include Henelotter’s Basket Case, Lucky Mckee’s The Woman, and George A.Romero’s The Crazies.

Regional Horror, with regular people making horror films outside of the Hollywood studio system, fusing outsider art, a rebellious nature and a lack of any oversight to create some truly unique and terrifying films, including Regional Bloodshed, Dark August and Driller Killer.

Bad Magic, a collection of bewitching bangers including Wizard of Gore, The End of Man and Zombie Nightmare.

Sick Filth Never Dies, a selection of corrupt and disgusting films including Behind Convent Walls, The Awakening of the Beast and The House By The Cemetery.

Blaze It, a carefully rolled collection of hazy tripped out treats, including Reefer Madness, Bad Acid, and A Trip to the Moon.

The Kids Aren’t Alright, featuring tearaway teens, chilling children and killer kids in the likes of Over the Edge, The Child and The Snake Girl and the Silver-Haired Witch.
