Crime Doesn’t Pay With Queer Body Horror, a Korean Gangster Classic, and more on ARROW
CRIME DOESN’T PAY ON ARROW THIS AUGUST
QUEER BODY HORROR, A KOREAN GANGSTER CLASSIC, AN EERIE FOLK-TALE, JOHN TURTURRO & MORE
It would be criminal to not catch these must-see movies streaming on ARROW this August, including an outrageous LGBTQ road-trip shocker, a brutal crime thriller from Kim Jee-Woon, a disturbing feral kids chiller, John Turturro’s wild The Big Lebowski spin-off, film picks from the founder of Video Watchdog with Tim Lucas Selects, and much more.
First in August, exclusively on ARROW – with Swallowed, a no- holds-barred body horror about a pair of pals on a drug-smuggling run that goes seriously awry – Film Threat says the “truly intense final act that must be seen to be believed”. From writer/director Carter Smith (The Ruins), and starring Neon Demon’s Jena Malone, Cooper Kock (Erik Menendez in Monsters), and Mark Patton from A Nightmare on Elm Street 2, Swallowed is a bona fide treat you’ll gulp down in one sitting.
Next in August is A Bittersweet Life, a magnificent revenge classic from Kim Jee-woon (I Saw The Devil), starring Lee Byung-hun (The Good, The Bad, the Weird) as the gangster who learns the hard way not to disobey his boss. Bold, brutal, and brilliantly directed, this is Korean crime cinema at its finest.
Do not miss The Seeding, a nerve-shredding folk-horror debut from Barnaby Clay, featuring a fantastic lead performance from Scott Haze (Jurassic World: Dominion) as a man trapped in the desert at the mercy of feral kids and a mysterious woman (Kate Lyn Sheil, You’re Next). The Seeding is superbly shot by Robert Leitzell (Black Bear), and has an eerie, atmospheric score from Tristan Bechet.
And there’s even more horror in store with She Came From the Woods, an Eighties-set summer camp slasher that delivers laughs, scares and some good old fashioned blood-drenched practical effects.
Also streaming in August is The Jesus Rolls, written, directed, and starring, the great John Turturro, who reprises his role from The Big Lebowski in a riotous road movie with Bobby Canavale (Boardwalk Empire) and Amelie’s Audrey Tautou. IndieWire says “the freewheeling Jonathan Demme energy only grows more infectious as the film drifts along”, so make sure you take a ride with Jesus and co. in August.
Seasons in August include:
Here Kitty Kitty… Curl up with your favourite kitty and enjoy hair-raising shockers that feature fearsome (and friendly) felines. Titles include: Nekromantik, At Midnight I’ll Take Your Soul, and The Gore Gore Girls.
Tim Lucas Selects, with legendary founder of the influential Video Watchdog magazine, and longtime Arrow Video contributor, choosing his favourites including Toys Are Not for Children, Season of the Witch, and The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Miss Osbourne.
