Tim Travers and The Time Traveler’s Paradox (2024) Review
Self-obsessed, mad scientist Tim Travers (Samuel Dunning) creates a time machine and kills his younger self to see what would happen. The universe was bad enough with only one of him and now, he must attempt to solve the time traveller’s paradox in pitch-black, high-concept time-bending sci-fi comedy.
Written and directed By Stimson Snead this low-budget high-concept sci-fi comedy has the potential to develop a cult following. Whilst a little overlong and proving a little unsure with its footing at first TIM TRAVERS AND THE TIME TRAVELER’S PARADOX is an otherwise unexpected delight, delivering philosophical muses on life, the universe and everything else.
Boasting a terrific retro synth score and perfectly realised special effects from VFX Supervisors Travis Berry and McKee, Snead’s film delivers on every level. The only part of the film that I felt did not land as well as it could was the film’s ending which for my money went on a beat too long but otherwise this is worth checking out.
Samuel Dunning as Tim Travers (a shortened version of Time Traveler) is initially (and deliberately) annoying but you soon warm to him and the multiple versions of him as they collectively consume coffee, indulge in an orgy with each other and pontificate about their dilemma. There are a couple of familiar faces in the mix with Keith David as God and Danny Trejo as a hitman however it is the film’s writer/director Snead that steals the show as an increasingly confused and perplexed assassin.
