Scare BNB (2021) The Hosts Review
In the thriller Scare BNB, two couples—long-time friends since high school—are in high spirits when they arrive at a remote, rental cabin in the Tennessee woods for a much-needed vacation … But, upon their arrival, they find the overly attentive owners may want to host them to death.
For review purposes we were sent just the first two episodes – there’s an additional three episodes, “The Double Booking,” that will begin streaming later this year – entitled THE HOSTS. The first two episodes actually play out in a more light-hearted vein than their ‘thriller’ billing would suggest. Light on thrills and chills the first two episodes instead play more as a relationship drama with the occasional ‘boo’ moment.
There’s nothing out of the ordinary here and your viewing pleasure is further addled by the needlessly shrill performances. There seems to be a misconception on the part of the makers that having people play LOUD makes for great entertainment, it doesn’t, unfortunately it just serves to irritate the viewer instead.
