Late Night With The Devil Limited Edition

Late Night with the Devil (2023) Limited Edition 4K UHD /Blu-ray Dual Box set Review

The year is 1977 and late-night talk show host Jack Delroy’s (David Dastmalchian) ratings are in free fall. In a desperate bid to revive his show, Jack plans a Halloween special like no other. He invites a psychic, a sceptic, and, as the main attraction, parapsychologist author June (Gordon) and her subject Lily (Ingrid Torelli) – a 13-year-old survivor of a satanic cult who claims to be possessed – to join him in the studio.

Broadcasting live, Jack sits down for a tête-à-tête with his unpredictable and very risky guests, unaware of the unimaginable terror he’s about to unleash. Witness what really happened on set in this shockingly unbelievable footage of the infamous late-night recording, if you dare.

Tune in for one hell of a show as LATE NIGHT WITH THE DEVIL – the 2023 horror hit from the talented brothers Colin Cairnes and Cameron Cairnes (100 BLOODY ACRES, SCARE CAMPAIGN), that’s been hailed by Mark Kermode as ‘Alan Partridge goes to hell’ and the King of horror himself, Stephen King, described it as ‘Absolutely brilliant’ – gets the Limited Edition treatment from Second Sight Films this Autumn.

This devilishly entertaining and wickedly original feature is the latest to receive a must-own Limited-Edition Box set release from the company that truly puts the devil in the details. The bonus-packed collector’s 4K/Blu-ray dual edition is set for release on 28 October, just in time for some Halloween havoc and will also be available on Standard Edition.

LATE NIGHT WITH THE DEVIL was deservedly critically acclaimed upon its release and raved about by horror author Stephen King who claimed ‘It’s absolutely brilliant. I couldn’t take my eyes off it. Your results may vary, as they say, but I urge you to watch it when you can.’ This supernatural horror film often bares a few similarities to acclaimed UK TV cult classic 1992’s GHOSTWATCH, in fact come LATE NIGHT WITH THE DEVIL’s last moments the likeness is both uncanny and distracting and consequently slightly strips away at one’s impression of it, but only slightly.

LATE NIGHT WITH THE DEVIL is proof that in the right hands that possession-based flicks can still give you the chills. The set design and costume design are top drawer, perfectly evoking the period of TV that this is set. David Dastmalchian nails the lead performance and if this were not a horror film then he would have ideally been the recipient of at least a nomination at the Golden Globes or Oscars for his turn here. Paranormal debunker and smarmy know-all Carmichael can be a little wearing after a while, but then I suppose that he is meant to be, otherwise this near-excellent mockumentary/found footage flick, narrated by the great Michael Ironside, is a must-see.
