Croc! (2022) Review

Lisa and her family unite at a wedding venue, excited for the big day. However, unknown to the family, a nest of hungry crocodiles has been living in the nearby lake. As the crocodiles crash the wedding in a blood thirsty massacre, the remaining family members must survive the night against these Jurassic beasts.

Remember that scene in 1980’s ALLIGATOR when the titular reptile gate-crashed a wedding? Well now it’s apparently time for a crocodile to do the same, in um, Hampshire England, of all places. Written and directed by Paul W. Franklin (BENEATH THE SURFACE), ‘CROC!’ plays out like an extended take on THAT wedding scene. The resulting film is silly, everyone involved knows it’s silly and the film makes no apology for being silly.

It’s also a lot better than you would probably expect. For the most part it’s fun, there’s a couple of terrific bodies on display earlier on –Mark Haldor’s chiselled torso is a particularly pleasing sight – but once the infidelities are played out it’s time for the crocodile to chow down on wedding guests and provide an abundance of goo and gore.

Very little about ‘CROC!’ makes any real sense, for example why not outrun or out manoeuvre the crocodile, but then it’s not meant to make sense, if it did then there wouldn’t be a movie. Take it for what it is and it’s a better than average low-budget B-movie that holds together, makes for a fun watch for most of the time and is certainly a lot better than many other flicks of this ilk.
