THE MOST DISTURBING SEAT IN THE HOUSE: INCOMPLETE CHAIRS STREAMS EXCLUSIVELY ON BLOODSTREAM OCTOBER 15

Stay home. Sit down. Squirm. The award-winning Japanese horror film arrives to BloodStream for Halloween.

This Halloween, you may want to think twice before getting comfortable. BloodStream will exclusively premiere Japanese filmmaker Kenichi Ugana’s Incomplete Chairs on October 15, bringing a blood-soaked tale of obsession, murder, and designer furniture straight into your living room. Viewers can experience the film in its original Japanese language or with an English dub.

Set in Tokyo, Incomplete Chairs stars Ryu Ichinose (The Gesuidouz, Ghost Killer) as Shinsuke Kujo, a craftsman whose pursuit of the perfect chair requires some decidedly unconventional materials: human bones and skin. After luring job applicants to his studio, Kujo turns murder into part of his creative process. But when chair buyer Natsuko Kato (Ryoka Oshima) takes an interest in his work, questions about his designs lead her and bar owner Masaki Uchida (Akito Fujii) toward a horrifying discovery.

Blending pitch-black humor with unflinching body horror, Incomplete Chairs takes aim at consumerism, status, and the pursuit of artistic perfection. With echoes of American Psycho and the brutality of New French Extremity, Ugana delivers a twisted Halloween treat for viewers who like their horror unsettling, outrageous, and far beyond the familiar.

“Incomplete Chairs is the most extreme horror film I’ve ever seen which also caused me to laugh out loud,” said Clark Collis, lead programmer of BloodStream. “Kenichi Ugana has created a must-see movie that will have viewers on the edge of their, yes, seats until the very end”

Incomplete Chairs made its world premiere at the 2025 SLASH Film Festival and went on to screen at Montreal’s Festival du nouveau cinéma, Brooklyn Horror, and Grimmfest, where it won Best SFX and earned Ichinose a Special Mention for Best Actor in a Male Role.

The film comes from prolific Japanese filmmaker Kenichi Ugana, whose The Gesuidouz was selected for the Toronto International Film Festival’s Midnight Madness program in 2024. His credits also include Visitors: Complete Edition, Love Will Tear Us Apart, and The Curse.

Pull up a chair, if you dare. Incomplete Chairs streams exclusively on BloodStream beginning October 15 in North America, UK, Australia/New Zealand, available both dubbed in English and in its original Japanese language. A wider release through The Horror Collective will follow, with additional dates to be announced.

Lizzie Borden Returns in Supernatural Horror — The Lizzie Borden Game

Renewed Interest in Lizzie Borden Brings New Attention to Breaking Glass Pictures’ The Lizzie Borden Game

As Netflix’s Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story introduces a new generation to one of America’s most enduring true-crime legends, audiences can discover a supernatural horror take on the infamous name in The Lizzie Borden Game

More than 130 years after the Borden murders shocked the nation, the story of Lizzie Borden continues to fascinate audiences — and renewed interest surrounding Netflix’s newly released Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story is once again putting the infamous case at the center of popular culture.

Netflix released Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story on September 17 as the fourth installment of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s Monster anthology series, starring Ella Beatty as Lizzie Borden.

For viewers searching for more Lizzie Borden stories, Breaking Glass Pictures invites horror fans to discover The Lizzie Borden Game, a supernatural horror thriller that takes the enduring legend in a very different direction.

In The Lizzie Borden Game, the legend of Lizzie Borden comes back to life when a group of friends gathers for a secluded Friendsgiving getaway and discovers an unsettling ritual known as “The Lizzie Borden Game.” What begins as a dare quickly turns deadly when the game summons Lizzie Borden’s ghost from beyond the grave. The friends must uncover the truth behind the legend and close the portal before they all get axed.

Rather than dramatizing the historical Borden case, The Lizzie Borden Game uses Lizzie Borden’s place in American folklore as the foundation for a contemporary supernatural horror story.

“Lizzie Borden remains one of those names that immediately captures people’s attention,” said Rich Wolff of Breaking Glass Pictures. “With audiences once again talking about the case and searching for Lizzie Borden stories, this is a great moment for horror fans to discover The Lizzie Borden Game and see a completely different interpretation of the legend.”

The film is directed by Calvin Morie McCarthy and produced by Calvin Morie McCarthy, Chynna Rae Shorts and Rich Wolff. The cast includes Airisa Durand, Jason Brooks, Laura Wilson, Chynna Rae Shurts, Jessica Noel Thompson and Steve Larkin.

Netflix’s new series approaches Borden as a historical true-crime figure, while The Lizzie Borden Game embraces the supernatural possibilities that have grown around her name over generations. The two productions are entirely separate and unaffiliated, but the renewed cultural interest demonstrates the continuing fascination surrounding one of America’s most recognizable murder mysteries.

Tubi FrightFest announces line-up for Halloween 2026

Hot on the hellish heels of its spectacular 27th year August five-day event, the UK’s most vibrant genre film festival returns to the ODEON Luxe West End in Leicester Square to present its annual 2-day Halloween event. Taking over both screens on Friday 30th October and Saturday 31st October, the spine-chilling line-up heralds nine premieres from five countries, spanning Europe, North and South America and Australia/Oceania. Each film will be screened twice.

So, hold on tight as Tubi Frightfest takes you on a spooky, carnage-crammed journey featuring powerful mutants, seasonal spooks, psychotic neighbours, venomous spiders, vengeful werewolves, and shocking Christmas tales where it’s not just the turkey that is carved up.

FREAKS PART II

Opening the gates to ‘Helloween’ is the UK premiere of FREAKS PART II, which sees Final Destination Bloodlines co-directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein return to the mutant roots of their sleeper 2018 cult hit Freaks and this time the Canadian sci-fi horror thriller is even more tense and gory. Zach and Adam will both be in attendance.

Next, we travel to the dark woodlands of Cornwall as Friday’s line-up continues with the World premiere of J.P. Davidson’s haunting and gritty Halloween Folk horror THE CULL, starring Craig Russell, who FrightFest audiences will remember from his cannibalistic turn in Protein.

Some of the cast and crew will be joining us.

The first day closes with the UK premiere of the ‘meanest slasher of the year’ AMERICAN DOLLHOUSE, a modern take on Psycho and Black Christmas, boasting, in unhinged neighbour Sandy, one of creepiest horror antagonists to hit screens in a long time.

Saturday kicks off with the UK premiere of TALKING TO A STRANGER, a supernatural thriller directed by genre visionary and FrightFest favourite Adrián García Bogliano and starring acclaimed filmmaker Gigi Saul Guerrero in her first leading role.

Then it’s time to bring early holiday cheer and gross-out queasiness to Central London with the UK premiere of Canadian director Michael Gabriele’s UNHOLY NIGHT, an Xmas season’s slay ride reminiscent of a lost chapter of The Evil Dead franchise.

This is followed by the World premiere of Sean Hogan’s THE DARK GETS IN. FrightFest has a long history with writer/director Sean Hogan. From The Devil’s Business to Isle of Dogs and Daddy’s Girl. Now comes his latest innovative shocker – an audacious mix of Found Footage, faux documentary and edge-of-the-seat chiller. Sean will be joining us, alongside some of the cast and crew.

Next up, from Marcel Walz, the king of ‘splatterific’ gore, comes the World premiere of BRUTE 1986, the ultra-violent sequel to Brute 1976. Marcel, known for FrightFest hits Blood Feast, Blind, and Pretty Boy will be attending.

The penultimate presentation is a special screening of CRAWLERS. which follows the tenants of an apartment complex fighting to survive a catastrophic, fast-multiplying infestation of venomous spiders. Matilda Lutz’s commanding lead performance grounds this ultra-claustrophobic body horror thriller.

Completing the line-up is the UK premiere of DEAD HOWLING, an action-packed, post-apocalyptic Werewolf vs Zombies horror from the producer of cult genre hit Dog Soldiers. Cast incudes Ryan Kwanten (True Blood, Dead Silence) and Temuera Morrison (The Mandalorian, Aquaman).

Ryan Gillett, Tubi’s Marketing Director, International, commentated: “Following an incredible five days in August, we are thrilled to keep the screams going as the headline sponsor for FrightFest’s Halloween event. Horror isn’t simply a genre to us, it’s one of the biggest, most passionate communities on our platform. Bringing the UK’s premier horror festival together with our permanent ‘Terror on Tubi’ hub allows us to give dedicated genre fans exactly what they crave this spooky season, completely for free.”

Greg Day, FrightFest co-director, added: “This is our 20th edition of the Halloween event, and it remains an unmissable highlight for genre cinema lovers, bringing an exceptional lineup of new horror, sci-fi, and fantasy films to London’s ODEON Luxe West End. We know this year’s selection goes some way into capturing the spirit of the Halloween weekend.”

Passes and tickets go on sale at noon on Saturday 3rd October.

Prices: Two-day pass – £85 | Friday 30 Oct Day pass – £36 | Saturday 31 Oct Day pass – £65 | Single tickets – £14.99

All tickets costs may incur booking fee.

THE HORROR COLLECTIVE BRINGS ’90s SLASHER 213 BONES HOME FOR ITS U.S. PREMIERE AT SCREAMFEST

The acclaimed throwback slasher from late filmmaker Jeffrey Primm will screen at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres in Hollywood

The Horror Collective announced today that 213 Bones, the feature directorial debut of late filmmaker Jeffrey Primm, will make its U.S. Premiere at the 26th annual Screamfest Horror Film Festival.

The film will screen Monday, October 12 at 7:00 p.m. At the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres in Hollywood.

Set in the Pacific Northwest in 1993, 213 Bones follows a group of anthropology students who discover that studying the past can be deadly. When human bones and personal belongings begin appearing around their campus, it becomes clear that a gruesomely masked killer is targeting them. Late-night study sessions soon become a frantic race to expose the murderer before every student becomes a textbook homicide case.

The film stars Luna Fujimoto (Blade of the 47 Ronin), Hunter Nance (Beyond the Rush), Colin Egglesfield (Something Borrowed, The Client List), Liam Woodrum (Geek Girl), Dean Cameron (Summer School), Francesca Barker McCormick, Sarah Brooks, Toni Weiss, Simone Lockhart, Allegra Sweeney, Elizabeth O’Brien and Mason Kennerly.

“Bringing 213 Bones to Screamfest for its U.S. Premiere feels exactly right,” said Shaked Berenson, CEO of Entertainment Squad. &Ldquo;Jeffrey made this movie for audiences who love the fun, mystery and theatrical experience of a great slasher. We are proud to celebrate his work with horror fans on the big screen in Hollywood.&Rdquo;

Director and co-writer Jeffrey Primm passed away before the film’s world premiere at FrightFest in London. 213 Bones stands as his first and final feature film.

“This screening is incredibly meaningful to everyone who helped Jeffrey bring the film to life,” said producer John Michaels. &Ldquo; He loved the slasher genre and poured that love into every frame. Watching an audience experience the movie together is the best way we can honor him and his vision.

The film’s authentic 90’s atmosphere is driven by a powerhouse soundtrack featuring era-defining music from Chris Cornell, Soundgarden, Duran Duran, Ministry, Melvins, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Meat Puppets, The Breeders, Veruca Salt, The Jesus and Mary Chain and Bananarama. From grunge and industrial rock to alternative classics, the music turns 213 Bones into a blood-soaked mixtape for fans of ’90s horror.

213 Bones was written by Jeffrey Primm and Dominic Arcelin and directed by Primm. The film was produced by John Michaels and Tyler Jon Olson. Executive produced by Joyce Schweikert. The Horror Collective acquired worldwide rights to the film, with Studio Dome handling international sales.

Release information will be announced shortly.

BLOODSTREAM ADDS MORE THAN 300 CULT FILMS FROM SEVERIN FILMS

Landmark catalog addition brings The Changeling, Cemetery Man, Santa Sangre, The Day of the Beast and hundreds more to BloodStream beginning in September

BloodStream, the streaming destination for horror, thriller and cult cinema, has partnered with Severin Films to bring more than 300 films from the celebrated cult-film label to the platform beginning in September.

The partnership arrives as Severin celebrates its 20th anniversary, marking two decades of rescuing, restoring and releasing provocative, overlooked and unconventional cinema from around the world. The agreement represents a continued expansion of BloodStream’s classic and international catalog, spanning supernatural horror, slashers, giallo, folk horror, exploitation, creature features and some of the strangest films ever committed to celluloid.

Among the best-known titles joining BloodStream are Peter Medak’s acclaimed haunted-house classic The Changeling, Michele Soavi’s cult favorite Cemetery Man, Alejandro Jodorowsky’s surreal masterpiece Santa Sangre, Álex de la Iglesia’s horror comedy The Day of the Beast, and Soavi’s Italian horror favorites The Church and The Sect.

The collection also includes cult staples such as Anthropophagous, Absurd, Patrick, Next of Kin, Turkey Shoot, Vampyros Lesbos, Zombie Holocaust, Psychomania, The Manson Family, The Peanut Butter Solution, When the Wind Blows and Kier-La Janisse’s acclaimed documentary Woodlands Dark and Days Bewitched: A History of Folk Horror.

“Severin Films was founded on the belief that genre films speak a common language of transgressive entertainment,” says Severin founder David Gregory. “Twenty years later, we continue to evolve that global mission by rescuing, restoring and releasing the boldest and best of entertainment with sharp edges for streaming, physical media and like-minded audiences. We’re now proud to share it all with BloodStream.”

“Severin has spent two decades rescuing, restoring and celebrating movies that might otherwise have disappeared,” said Shaked Berenson, founder of BloodStream. “This is exactly the kind of catalog BloodStream was created for”; Heidi Honeycutt, Lead Programmer at BloodStream added: “Their films are deeply important to fans of genre cinema and to film history. Adding more than 300 of them at once is a huge step toward building the most complete and adventurous horror streaming library possible.”

Founded in Los Angeles in 2006 by David Gregory, Carl Daft and John Cregan, Severin Films has become one of the world’s leading independent labels devoted to restoring and releasing provocative, overlooked and unconventional cinema. Its library now encompasses more than 500 films and television projects from around the world.

The Severin collection will begin rolling out on BloodStream in September, with curated collections and filmmaker spotlights planned throughout the fall.

BloodStream is available free with ads, as well as through ad-free and Early Access subscription plans, on the web, mobile devices and major connected-TV platforms.

‘SPOILING YOU’ AND ‘MR. WHISPERS’ HEAD TO GLOWFLARE HORROR FILM FESTIVAL THIS WEEKEND

Two new British independent horror features, Spoiling You and Mr. Whispers, will screen at the Glowflare Horror Film Festival in Beverley, Yorkshire, UK this weekend, with both films showing on Sunday, 6 September at Parkway Cinemas.

Mr. Whispers will screen at 4pm, followed by Spoiling You at 6pm.

Directed by Megan Tremethick, Spoiling You is an ASMR psychological horror exploring loneliness, parasocial obsession and the increasingly uneasy relationship between comfort and control. The film follows Drew, a socially isolated insomniac who becomes fixated on online ASMR creator Miss Mutter. When he wins the opportunity to meet her for a private ASMR session, the encounter gradually descends into something far darker.

The film marks Tremethick’s feature directorial debut and was written by Tremethick and Lawrie Brewster. Tremethick also stars as Miss Mutter alongside Stephen Kerr, Laurence R. Harvey, best known for The Human Centipede II and The Human Centipede III, and Peter F. Mahoney. The film is produced by Lawrie Brewster and Sarah Daly through British Horror Studio.

Mr. Whispers, meanwhile, is a late-1990s-inspired supernatural found-footage horror centred on a group of young filmmakers investigating the disturbing history of an abandoned cinema linked to a series of child disappearances. Led by student filmmaker Kathryn Hale, the group set out to document the urban legend of Mr. Whispers, a mysterious porcelain-faced figure said to haunt the building.

Mr. Whispers is directed by Dorian Todd, Oliver Revie, and Seumas MacNeil with Todd and MacNeil also writing the screenplay. Tremethick stars alongside Dorian Todd, Novarro Ramon, Stephen Corrall and Sam MacMillan. The filmmakers have cited The Blair Witch Project, Noroi: The Curse and Lake Mungo among the film’s influences.

Glowflare Horror Film Festival was founded by Daniel Smales and is dedicated to showcasing independent horror filmmaking across a wide range of subgenres. The festival returns to Parkway Cinemas in Beverley, Yorkshire, UK, for its 2026 edition on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September and has recently been accepted into the Film Festival Alliance, an international network supporting the film festival community.

Burford Priory: The Woman Who Watches Over Us, is a deeply personal paranormal investigation inside one of England’s most extraordinary private homes. It will premiere exclusively on The Supernatural UK YouTube channel on Friday 4 September 2026 at 7pm.

In this 55-minute documentary feature, Charlotte Freud invites The Supernatural UK team into the historic Oxfordshire home in which she grew up – a place she has long believed they share with something unexplained. What begins as an investigation into a haunting, becomes something far more personal: a moving story about love, memory and the possibility that those who once cared for us may never truly leave.

Charlotte said: “When I was asked to do this, I thought it would be fun and nobody had ever ghost hunted in the priory, besides my brothers and sisters as kids. Armed with magnifying glasses and vacuum cleaners, we played ghostbusters often. What I did not expect was for the team to prove something real to me.”

Charlotte leads the team through the Priory’s most significant rooms and recounts the unexplained experiences reported by her family, friends and visitors over the years. What follows is not simply a search for evidence of a haunting, but an intimate exploration of a family’s relationship with its home – and the possibility that somebody may still be watching over them.

Produced by TSUK duo John Shackleton and Andy Bourne, the film brings together sensitive Kate Ray, sceptic Justin Cowell and paranormal investigator Karin Beasant. As the night unfolds, a series of striking apparent connections begins to draw together the Priory’s history, Charlotte’s testimony and the experiences of the investigation team.

Producer-director John Shackleton commentated. “Charlotte gave us extraordinary access, not only to the Priory but to the family stories attached to it. What emerged felt much more intimate than a conventional paranormal investigation. It became a film about home, family, memory and the possibility that the people who matter to us may never entirely leave.”

Burford Priory has stood in one form or another for more than 800 years. Once a medieval hospital and later a religious community, it has witnessed royal visits, political intrigue and family tragedy before being painstakingly restored as a family home by the Freud family.
‘FOR WE ARE MANY 2: LOVECRAFT’ STARS NICHOLAS VINCE AND LAURENCE R. HARVEY IN NEW LOVECRAFTIAN HORROR ANTHOLOGY

Following an exclusive first look with Rue Morgue, For We Are Many 2: Lovecraft is now being unveiled more widely, with images and details from the upcoming feature-length horror anthology starring Hellraiser and Nightbreed actor Nicholas Vince and The Human Centipede II’s Laurence R. Harvey.

For We Are Many 2: Lovecraft assembles eight tales of cosmic horror exploring forbidden knowledge, ancient forces and humanity’s uneasy place in the cosmos. Cults, creatures and otherworldly horrors emerge across the anthology, with the individual tales bound together by an Amicus-style wraparound.

Lawrie Brewster, Sarah Daly, Tom Staunton, Oliver Revie and Megan Tremethick direct segments of the anthology, with Tremethick appearing in several of the stories. British Horror Studio produces.

The project surpassed its initial £27,500 Kickstarter goal within 48 hours of launching and has since passed its first stretch goal, with the campaign still underway.

“Nicholas has a commanding presence and an instinctive understanding of this kind of horror,” Brewster says. “There’s a real assurance to his performance, and he knows exactly when to be subtle and when to let something more animated break through. That contrast was wonderful to work with, and having him become part of our Lovecraftian world was an absolute privilege.”

The images offer a first glimpse at the film’s Lovecraftian world, including characters played by Vince and Harvey.

For We Are Many 2: Lovecraft is currently in it’s final 48 hours crowdfunding on Kickstarter.

HORRORFEST INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL REVEALS 2026 LINEUP: SHUDDER’S “GOODY GOODY” TO OPEN, MAGNOLIA PICTURES’ “NEVER AFTER DARK” SET TO CLOSE

Presented by Film and Media Alliance of Southern Utah (FMASU)

HorrorFest International Film Festival has revealed the full lineup for its 2026 edition, announcing Raymond Creamer’s “Goody Goody” as the Opening Night Film and Magnolia Pictures’ “Never After Dark”, from writer-director Dave Boyle, as the Closing Night Film. The 24th annual event, presented by the Film and Media Alliance of Southern Utah (FMASU), runs September 16–19, 2026, with screenings and events centered at the historic Electric Theater in downtown St. George, Utah.

HorrorFest 2026 will showcase over 55 feature and short films from around the world – including multiple U.S. Premieres, with dozens of additional films making their Utah debuts. Beyond film screenings, HorrorFest will also host a range of special events and panels throughout the weekend. Among them, a conversation with horror screenwriter Chris Thomas Devlin (2022’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre, 2023’s Cobweb, and 2027’s Blair Witch), an insightful panel featuring the creative team behind Las Vegas’ year round haunt attraction Universal Horror Unleashed, an appearance by returning fan favorite writer/actor/animator/director Frank Dietz, a horror trivia competition, a Cereal Killer Breakfast Bar, and a Necro Radio listening party. Additionally the festival will offer after parties, provide networking opportunities, and close out with the annual HorrorFest Skreel Awards, honoring the best films of the festival.

“We couldn’t be any more thrilled about this year’s lineup,” says Adam Mast, HorrorFest’s Co-director and Senior Programmer. “Not only are several countries well-represented but our slate also offers many different shades of horror and that’s exciting to us in a big way. We greatly look forward to giving our visiting filmmakers and horror-loving attendees a festival they will never forget.”

The festival will open with “Goody Goody” the feature directorial debut of writer-director Raymond Creamer, which was acquired by Shudder just ahead of its world premiere at the 2026 Overlook Film Festival and international premiere at Calgary Underground Film Festival. Starring Samantha Robinson, Colleen Foy, Zoe Renee and Colby Hollman, the film follows an expectant couple and their midwife whose planned home birth takes an increasingly sinister turn when a raging blizzard leaves them isolated from the outside world.

The festival will close with “Never After Dark,” the latest from House of Ninjas writer-director Dave Boyle. Following its World Premiere at SXSW earlier this year, the Japanese supernatural thriller won the festival’s Midnighter Audience Award and was subsequently acquired by Magnolia Pictures. The film follows a medium who travels deep into the Japanese countryside for what should be a routine exorcism, only to encounter a threat that forces her to reconsider who she should truly fear.

“This year’s lineup represents exactly what we love about HorrorFest International,” says John Pugh, HorrorFest’s Co-director and Senior Programmer. “Creative and innovative films from around the world, including bold storytellers from right here in Utah, and of course the new voices we are lucky enough to discover along the way. Our lineup offers something different for everyone. There’s so many fun experiences this year and it will be one for the books.”

Additional feature highlights from the 2026 lineup include Spanish filmmaker Manu Herrera’s “Lily’s Ritual,” arriving in Utah following its world premiere at Grimmfest with international sales handled by Black Mandala; and South Korean filmmaker Lee Daehan’s “Debone,” following its raved about 2026 Panic Fest screening.

HorrorFest will also showcase a 30th anniversary screening of Michael Dougherty’s animated short Season’s Greetings, a 30th anniversary screening of Peter Jackson’s wildly creative ghost story The Frighteners, a Mystery 80s Throwback movie, and a screening of Poltergeist on September 15th as part of HorrorFest preview night.

HORRORFEST 2026 FEATURE FILMS OFFICIAL SELECTIONS:

“Goody Goody” directed by Raymond Creamer | USA | Utah Premiere

A planned home birth takes a terrifying turn when an expectant couple, their midwife and a family member become trapped inside an isolated home during a raging blizzard. As complications mount, it becomes increasingly clear that something far more sinister may be unfolding. The feature directorial debut of Raymond Creamer stars Samantha Robinson, Colleen Foy, Zoe Renee and Colby Hollman.

“Never After Dark” directed by Dave Boyle | Japan | Utah Premiere

Fresh off winning the 2026 SXSW Midnighter Audience Award, Dave Boyle’s supernatural thriller follows a traveling psychic (with a gift for aiding lost souls) who, while on a job, encounters a powerful entity whose dark origins lead to an unexpected source.

“Lily’s Ritual” directed by Manu Herrera | Spain | Utah Premiere

Things aren’t necessarily what they seem as four women set out to perform a witchcraft initiation ritual at a remote house deep in the forest in this dark and brutal tale of power, evil, and sacrifice.

“Debone” directed by Lee Daehan | South Korea | Utah Premiere

After being released from prison due to a crime of self defense, a troubled man vows to do anything to provide for his sickly mother in this provocative, hard-hitting, and often disturbing South Korean import from director Lee Daehan.

“Friday the 69th” directed by Alex Montilla | USA | Utah Premiere

Porn filmmakers in 1981 seek to cash in on the slasher craze by making their own independent ripoff that follows a group of spring breaking college coeds as they are stalked by a mysterious killer beekeeper at a camp with a tragic past.

“Demonetize” directed by Alex Watson | USA | Utah Premiere

Out-of-work television ghost hunters discover the key to getting their jobs back – and proving ghosts are real – is by working with the last group of people anyone would expect: Social Media Stars.

HORRORFEST 2026 SHORT FILMS OFFICIAL SELECTIONS:

“The Sentry” directed by Jake Wachtel | Cambodia/Norway/USA | Utah Premiere

Following its World Premiere at SXSW, “The Sentry” comes to HorrorFest after winning Best International Film at Oscar-qualifying Show Me Shorts. In this subversive twist on the spy thriller, a suave western agent’s mission goes off the rails when a Cambodian security guard refuses to become just another casualty. What begins as a casual throwback to classic espionage fun soon unravels into an unexpectedly heartfelt road trip movie.

“What We Leave Behind” directed by Jean-Sébastien Hamel, Alexandra Myotte | Canada | Utah Premiere

From the Montreal filmmaking duo behind A Crab in the Pool, “What We Leave Behind” arrives after its World Premiere at the Locarno Film Festival and North American Premiere at TIFF. Dan has a gaping hole in his neck that won’t heal. Why? He can’t remember, nor talk about it. Back in the sinister arena of his childhood, he must find the part of himself he once left behind that prevents him, now an adult, from being whole.

“Open Mic” directed by Jano Pita | Spain | Utah Premiere

A stand-up comedian’s difficult night onstage takes a grotesque turn when her body begins reacting in increasingly horrifying ways. Director Jano Pita previously competed in SXSW’s Midnight Short Competition with Apotemnofilia, while his earlier short Teratoma collected awards at more than 40 genre festivals.

“Hell” directed by Parker Croft | USA | Utah Premiere

In this darkly realized animated short, we’re taken to a place where dreams are real, wishes come true, and everything is always awful for everyone. In “Hell,” we follow the patriarch of a dying farm as he is methodically ground down by the machinery of despair. Croft’s previous short As Easy As Closing Your Eyes amassed 144 awards across its festival run.

“Breeder” directed by Sapphire Sandalo | USA | Utah Premiere

In this slice of Filipino folklore, a woman on the fence about having children finds herself hunted by a demonic horse-man. The short arrives after selections at Overlook Film Festival, Panic Fest, Chattanooga Film Festival and Fantasia, with a producing team that includes executive producers Roman Coppola and Eduardo Sánchez.
